I don't remember talking about anything other than the inaccurate clock situation. It seems that was the only thing voted on. If there are more things to be discussed:

1 POD and 1 POW allowed on the same day but 1 POW per week. So 7 pods per week and one POW per week and only one of each allowed in one day.

Lower the limit of total games picked to 35 in order to allow late comers.

I know it would be extra work and probably not worth it (but it is a money contest): how about money lines?

Also I think the guy running the POD contest for $ should take a 5% cut - like in most pools.

Just tossing out items for a vote....

So Lou what you're saying is that subtracting 5 mins from the BOS clock is too much math for people to figure? I don't think that's the case as most people here are good with math and odds. What's the real reason that we can't do the big math and become more accurate?

Let me ask you this: What if tommorrow BOS reset their server clock and it turned out to be 10 minutes slow; so that 10 minutes into the game we could place a POD. Don't you think we'd either a) add 10 mins to the BOS clock (good) or b) go by a different, accurate clock (not good) or c) just let us add in plays 10 mins into the game (very bad). What would smart people do?

Just wondering how you would diplomatically handle that one if it ever came up.

Just because a vote went up doesn't mean that the right choice was made. If that's the case why not let us vote on every detail about how the contest is run? That wouldn't make sense. Making a minor adjustment for the sake of accuracy is a no brainer. What would MLK do?

My selection is definitely going against the grain, as this game pits the 2 best defenses in the NFL against each other. However, what some people fail to take into account is that great defense often translates to excellent field position for the offense, and I expect BOTH of these teams to be working with short fields all afternoon. Remember too that the average total score of all Philadelphia home games this season is 39.3 points, more than 5 points higher than the posted total. Granted, the Bucs have only allowed 11.9 points per game this season, but the Eagles have had more success against them recently than most other teams, averaging 24.0 points per game in the last 3 head-to-head meetings in Philadelphia, including a 31-9 rout in last year’s playoffs.

Guys - I know this is easy for me to say now but I originally had the Magic earlier today after I saw the line drop to 4. Then I realized that the sudden drop to 4 was not money moving the line be Vegas suckering in more money - too much action was coming in on the Raptors. Today's football games are games just like any other games. Today's card is just a card. Don't go piling up just because it's a big game. I personally think big showcase games that are really hard to cap (like these today) are best dealt with using a small wager, like ¼ units on straight bets - don't go wrapping up teams in teasers and parlays - 'cause when your first leg of the 4 team teaser loses you're back on the line with the book putting in more action. It's just not worth it. Besides there are so many other places to make $ like on tonight's hoops game - especially if Magic and Eagles cover.

BONO: It's just cold. Nothing brutal, no biting wind. This is not the Frost Bowl, nor is it even the Atlanta game in GB 2 weeks ago. Sun is still out, and relatively mild despite 24° temp. Actually, whether should not be a factor until at least 2nd half, when the sun will have set and it should feel a lot colder. Wind now showing 7-9 MPH, but will avg. 13, with gusts of 27. Again, I would expect most of the colder stuff to be in 2nd half. Really OK right now, and should not adversely affect game at kickoff.

BACK TO THE SUNBELT: I haven't tracked it yet, but I think at least several here are on Denver today. My 2 cents on Ark-LR. Both teams are rated just about equally, both have almost identical SOS's, and both are 11-4 overall. Denver is sitting alone, undefeated, atop the Sunbelt West at 3-0, while Ark-LR is in 2nd behind W.Kentucky in the East. While WK & Ark-LR both have 1 loss in loss column, WK is 2 games ahead in W column. I always look for both ability and desire in any given game. This is a big spot for Ark-LR as they chase the frontrunning Hilltoppers in the East. Would expect a focused effort and hope to win outright or at least get in under the '6'.
NOTE OF CAUTION: I'm a fairly good writer, and you should all know by now what I think about "reasons" for playing a game - irrelevant! So this is not a recommendation to play. Just a test for myself to see if I've got my head on straight today. I don't think I do!

AL: NO! I still believe the Eagles will shut down Bucs! I just meant that as of late last night, I was in one of those tailspins that make you consider quitting. When you get like that, it seems that no matter what you play, somehow you'll get burned. And of course, if you lay off, your team will roll. I have one advantage over you guys. WEATHER REPORT: It is actually relatively mild here, even though temp is still in mid-20'. Not much wind, good FB weather. In 2nd half, that will be different story. Sun will have set, and should be a MF'er.
LAST NIGHT really ruined my enthusiasm for today. Played 5 picks from the board, all highly regarded and rated, and lost 1st 4 before winning 5th. Went 3-8 with my picks, all for half u, but only bet 9 games, so avoided 2 losses. Late night was worst. CalIrv wins by 13, laying 14. Utah St wins by 8, laying 10. Zman - both lines today are totally dictated by the money. This means that real capping (something I hardly ever do) has an edge over the lines. I think the Eagles line does not really reflect the game. This line, based on team power ratings (not public opinion of what the line should be) should be 10. Does anyone have an opinion regarding how these two teams really match up?

I also think the public is keeping this line too low because they remember the Eagles struggling against the Giants in that last game of the season (we know that refs were controlling that game) and then the Eagles get McNabb back (a little rusty) and they struggle in their win over Atlanta (who beat a slumping Pack to get there).

Two of the strongest factors in today's games are Philly's Defense and Charlie Garner.

I'm not really playing the Eagles game today - only for ¼ unit.

Had a 4-0 night in hockey posted pics as all the faves won handily, on a good little roll this week as that is ten straight correct NHL picks now. Unfortunately got my ••• handed to me in college ball and nba tonight so end up in the red again for the day. Nice call on the Clips today Barney (and for that matter the Rockets last night), I was one of the many "squares" on Sacramento and the Lake Show , and to tell you the truth I'd play the Kings over and over again giving 6 to the Clips, just too stubborn to bet against the top teams I guess.
