Al, Unfortunately this forum isn't my life (my haters would beg to differ) And IF I had to post College Basketball lines I wouldn't even be tracking the standings. The Standings are just so we the bettors can follow who is hot or who is cold and maybe bet with someone or bet by going against someone....Following a hot hand or fading a cold one can be profitable if you know how to do it right...I'm sure some have taken away a half pt here and there from where they either bet the game or saw the line. But, I doubt it makes a hell of a difference...you're either good or you're not. Cheating on a line won't make your record better or worse on the Standings. And it's impossible to post a line off by more than a pt and me not notice.

LOCO: That is exactly the page I was referring to. You should know by now that I am clueless when it comes to tracing IPp's & sh*t like that. But he had the same name, and he really laid into Pepe something fierce! I've been here 2 months and other than posting his picks, I don't think I've seen Pepe utter a word. He certainly doesn't suck people into playing his picks, and he doesn't get on a soapbox and scream about them when he wins. So that's why I asked if it was the same guy. I had Orlando -4 I bet that lte last night and i wanted the under, I felt it was a lock.. however.. when I saw it was 196, I thought that was a wacko #.. way out of line, and so I looked at the other O/U #'s and decided to take the over in the Houston/Dallas game 191 1/2. A LOWER NUMBER than the Orlando/CLEVE 196.
Sometimes you have to look and say.. stay away
from certain lines.. I could NEVER put money on Cleve over 196 when I can bet Dallas over 191 1/2

Aznmaster, you are very correct and i have been considering only coming to the board for info and saying thanks after picks. My posted record is nothing to brag about. A guy i work with used my account for his wagers a few months ago and he was my free withdrawl system. When I came to this board i had won back all of the money that i had lost from a pay-for-service scamcapper had done to me. Since not posting all plays i do do better. I dont know why this is, cause i enjoy the chatting. We will see how things go and if i get more for my money by keeping my mouth shut then i will talk less. Being a former scout in the military, not talking or making noise for long periods of time is not a bother to me.

AL - my guess is...

there is a chance that in the past the CBB POD contest disqualified someone's play because it was posted without a line. Chances are that that game was a close one. There was probably a little brew-ha about that, and as a result the CBB POD contest doesn't take plays that are not posted with a line - regardless if there is a blowout or not. If they took your play it would not be fair to the other guy.

Since CBB has tons of games, and since the contest is not serious (ahem), and not for money, the folks running it don't want to be bothered with posting the lines (too much work). So they are going with the honor system. If someone posts a ridiculous line (Duke + 60 vs Austin-Peay) it obviously won't count. There are websites that have posted lines from hundreds of books...

Anyway just my 2 centavos....

Al: The reason there are not lines posted for CBB is because some days there are like 100 games and it take hours to post all of those lines. Also it is a free contest intended for fun or whatever so if people really want to cheat on their lines then more power to them. They just make themselves look dumb Its not like they gonna win something from the contest. The contest is based on an honor system...If people want to be dumbfucks and cheat well that is on them. I will let Lou address any further concerns you have.

Fire, thank you for the explaination, however,BIG LOU.. I cannot believe that BYU POD which won by over 10 points, so it is not a matter of a half or one point, just because no spread was given.. I thought that it didn't matter because you guys go by the lines that you have and no one else's.
Now I see that is not the case here, so no matter what line I say on a game in CBB, than that is the line right, between you and me that is F*cked-up. Who ever runs the stats for those games should have the same point spread as everyone else, just like its done on the football, if that doesn't make sense why is it done there and does not apply to other sports.
If someone uses 1 or 2 points to his advantage does that make it right, just because they list the odds that they want, the more I talk the more F*cked up and bullshit that contest would be even without monetary rewards..
